Hi people!
Yesterday I received my plans for the Tiki 26! For sure I'll have at least one month till the first wood cutting. It is my intention to read very carefully all the instructions as well as to build a model 1:20 (or even 1:10). In the meantime I'll pay a visit to Tarcisio (Polinésio Tiki21) that is building a boat in Paraty (a lovelly place in Rio, Brazil). I'm very happy and hope to have good news next month.

We hauled our new Tiki 8M down to the local ramp and launched her. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2695/4188484521_d1bfffaaa1.jpg"/> After launching we raised the mast. The mast is tabernckled and we were able to muscle it up with 5 people. If we had rigged a strut and a block and tackle it could have been a two person job. It takes two to carry the mast.

The wind was very light but the boat moved along very well.

After dealing with bungees for several years, I picked up a Davis Tiller-Tamer to manage the tiller bar. Works great! Since the line exits the tiller-tamer at more than the 90 degrees Davis likes, I replaced the nylon line with slipperier 3/16" 12-strand dyneema to ease the movement:

Plans (#426) arrived on the 8th Oct and finally got a start on the 16th, cutting out templates for all the important stuff
The stem, sternpost, rudder, all beams, cleats and one hull panel lofted and cut so far. Will have the rest of the hull and bulkheads finished this week.

How do you connect the electricity between the two hulls?
Comment by Randall S Anselmo on October 23, 2010 at 7:03pm
Russell,

On the Espresso, the battery and other electric paraphernalia is in the port hull, and there is an outlet on the cabin side, with a matching outlet on the starboard hull. It looks like Gregor and Betsy plugged a custom made DC extension cord between the two when they needed power on the starboard side. She came with a 6amp solar panel for charging. I think I'll stick with the system as is for now, but have thought about giving the starboard side an independent system by adding a second battery and wind turbine to that side. That would create redundancy, and the systems would have inputs dependent upon different power sources.

Hello Randy,
Why two differents systems, one on each hull?
I will use one battery on each hull, connected to a solar pannel and a wind turbine. Of course whith regulator and load balancer.

All lofting of templates done now.
Ply for beams arrives tomorrow.
Haven't decided what ply to use for bulkheads yet.
Joubert in this country is way to expensive up to 50% more expensive than hoop to A.S.
Photos soon.
