I was wondering if anyone has used a SWATH system on a Wharram style hull? and anyone ever done sandwich core instead of Fiberglass over wood?

Continue“For Eric [Jones], I developed what I call the ‘egg box principle,’, making a backbone out of plywood and timber framing to the exact shape of the keel, stem and stern profile of the hull and slotting bulkheads on to this. It removed the heavy building base structure out of the cycle; the fixed backbone and bulkhead structure could be stood up on any type of floor and squared up with a string through the centreline. The bulkheads would be leveled with wedges to the floor.…

Hi Everyone,
We have progressed into our next phase of R&D for our Narai Mk IV wooden catamaran build: building a 1:10 scale model of one hull. Hanneke Boon strongly suggested we build a model; she’s been building them herself since she was 14 years old. For the next few months, we’ll be sharing Building Logs to establish good practice for documenting the real build, which we anticipate will…

Hi would anyone have the drawings for changing the U Bolt to lashings for forestay bridle? Does there need to be extra wood or epoxy in the stem to carry the load as it appears the lashing hole are drilled further back than the ubolt position. Cheers Pat

Might be selling Ataya my Tiki 26 due to family reasons. She has undergone a major refit over last few years and is ready for untold adventure. She was build by Steve Turner at Image Multihulls and is a rare GRP model. She will be out of the budget as per recent post on the blog but I’m happy to provide further details should anyone be interested.
happy sailing Folks

Hello everyone,
Well, it is now 2023 and my son and I's Tiki 21 project is back on.
This time we would like to know if Birch plywood would be right for this project. We may have a good deal on enough of it to build the entire boat.
I am attaching a screen capture that describe the main qualities of this material.
It seems right to us but, being first time builders, we would appreciate the opinions of more…

I’m 2 years in averaging around 20 hours per month. Yes, very part time but still enjoying it. The beams, tillers, hatchs, mast and other small parts are complete. I’m just now fitting the upper panels to the first hull. Building one hull at a time due to space limitations. The upper panels have been the most intimidating so far. Any advice from the Cretan’s out there???

Hello waka frothers :)
My Mate Paula and I are looking for a Tiki 38 or larger to buy anywhere on the planet. Not a major project requiring a rebuild but happy to bring a sound boat up to standard or complete a launched project.

My old 24 foot Henemoa had to be scrapped, but the replacement mast, foresail reefing, wing sail and foresail are available. I LIVE IN Exmouth, Devon, England. There are also a couple of anchors (mud and rock), a Johnstone outboard motor, some fenders and a box of bits. Open to offers (it would be nice to see it on another boat).
The stuff would need to be collected from here, so contact me for photos if you're interested.
Cheers Tony

Would it make sense to use a Wharram Wing Sail on a 17 ft. trimaran, as presented here?
