WHARRAM TIKI 46 FOR SALE

SY "wakataitea"

Launched in January 2009 in New Zealand. The boat was professionally built by the owner himself, German master cabinet maker, who sailed her since then, about 35000 Nm around the world.

The boat is V.A.T paid in New Zealand and registered under German flag. She has a very large deck space, would be perfect for charter or as a family boat3 cabins with double berths. 2 single berths in the saloon.

The boat is in perfect condition and ready to keep sailing to any place in the world.
She can be delivered by the owner worldwide.

The boat is at the moment in Cabedelo, Brazil. She will be in Trinidad around December 2015, where we will haul her out for a new anti fouling painting.

The boat sails very well and the rig is easy to handle with two persons only. That kind of rig allows you to lower the main sail for reefing even when sailing on a downwind course.

She performs well up wind.

She is very seaworthy and doesn’t mind strong wind.

She was built to be strong and beautiful, with the best materials.

We sailed her for 35 000 Nm without any problem, just had to do the normal maintenance.

The deck space and layout make her a very pleasant sailing boat where everyone can have his own space.

She is very roomy inside and has a lot of storage room.

As we lived on board and sailed her for seven years, she has always been carefully maintained and ready to go for new adventures.

wakataitea is now in Cabedelo and will sail mid september to french guans and further north. we will be in december in trinidat

Hi Hans,

You are probably already aware, but i'll remind you anyway.

All along the northern coast of brazil there are lots and lots of unlit and unpowered small sailing fishing boats. We had some very close calls so please keep a good look out. The favoured method they seem to use to show their presence is the use of laser pointers. We found that they seem to stay inside of the 1000m depth contour so sailing far out beyond the 1000m contour is your safest bet to avoid them, this is also where you should pick up the most powerful and advantageous currents that can get up to 4+ knots.

Also be aware that if you are going to stop in Fortaleza then proceed directly inside the marina and do not anchor outside as the probability of being robbed is extremely high, even if you are only waiting a few hours for daylight to enter the marina.

Once past Fortaleza there isn't too many places to stop but a nice place to stop, tucked in behind the headland is Jericoacara but it has a big tide so anchor far from the beach and is very windy, expect 35kts near the coast, there is a reason it's the windsurfing mecca of Brazil.

Just north of Sao luis is the Ilah dos Lencois,   1° 20S : 44° 54 W definitely worth a stop if you are near.

Safe sailing and fair winds.
