Hello Sea People!

I need some decision help here. I'm looking to start a build soon (March) if I can't find a boat willing to be owner financed. To build I would like to free up as much of my income as possible. To do this I am considering two options. 1) Move aboard Element  my Tiki 21 (I know it's drastic right!) or... 2) buy a 37' Irwin (Gasp!!! yes I know I said buy a monohull) that's here in my anchorage for cheap cheap and owner financed. Live aboard one of those build my Tiki 38 or Tangaroa MKIV (Haven't decided) then sell everything and leave. The only bonus (read potential curse... I'm staying positive) to the Irwin besides increased living space is that I'd have two boats to sell in the end and in theory more money to cruise with.

I've posed this situation to many people (friends family and co-workers) none of whom are really qualified to give an answer. (They can't understand why someone would live on a boat) Soooo... I decided to post it here and see what my fellow Sea people would have to say. I'm all ears :)

I will add that I was contemplating this the other day as I watched a storm blow through our anchorage and while Element braved the wind and waves rather gracefully. Every mono out there looked like a washing machine with massive pitching and rolling. Not sure I'm interested in that.

Thanks for you time

Brandon

Outstanding, for both you and Dan.  We hope to see you at the Hui in May.

I'll be there :) Are you bringing your Hitia 17? how us she coming?

We'll be there.  Spending a little time on an alternative hatch scheme.

"Forever Young" (Previously "Double Eagle") is an outstanding boat that I have been on before. You will be taking possession of a well built Wharram that should provide you with many years of worry free cruising. Congratulations.

Congratulations Brandon, well done mate!

That's good to hear Budget Boater! Yeah I read a few forum posts from the original owner and he seemed pretty happy with the boat after the launch. Did you know the builder or ever sail on the boat?

Thanks to all of the replies so far :)

looking sharp Omar!! Very nice! That is a great color... one I would have chosen myself. Have you ever seen pics of "Star Catcher"? she's in the UK nice guy and his 17 is quite sweet as well.

get rid of all you do not need. buy caravan and live next to you tiki38 building side... stop playing around with other boats etc. focus on the IMPORTANT things (project). get your balls together, stop doing stuff which has nothing to do with your tiki38 or earning money and you will get a nice boat in the end...

do not make the building the main thing in your life. we guess you want to go sailing. so go thru all the shit in between it fast. and focus on lifing and sailing your new boat.

I knew the owner and I was on the boat before it was launched, and helped the owner with choosing some of the systems. I was invited out for a sail, but never could get my schedule to mesh.

Oh, "Forever Young" is "Double Eagle"? I remember that build and the posts surrounding it from back in the 2000's. Yes, it seems like a well built boat and congratulations Brandon.
