Hi all,

our Tiki 38' is 11years old and she's still in great condition, but it's time to service the beams and beam boxes. One beam has cracks appearing along it's top, so I assume the top timber is delaminating and in any case, I'll need to check for rot.

We're in equatorial West Papua where rains are frequent and humidity is always high, so we now have green growth under the beams and I can't get in there without lifting the beams, which brings me to my question.

I guess I'll have to take both masts off, and the steering cockpit, so I can lift the beams. Has anybody got tips for the process of lifting out the beams? I'll have workers available but no cranes or heavy lifting equipment.

Many thanks,

Norm

you will have to take the masts down. then you can the beams out and fix them and the troughs one after the other. it takes min 3 people (fairly strong and tall) better a few more.

Your will also have to undo what is attached to the individual beam.

When the boat is on the hard you can take just lifte the cockpit up with about four people (or use a Hubwagen) and put some crates underneath that you can lift the beam out.
