Laurent,

Since the first time I sailed on a Wharram cat, I've never met anyone who was any sort of political or religious fanatic.  There's something about going to sea in a small boat under sail that puts things into perspective, and develops respect and tolerance.  It's especially true of the people on this forum.  Maybe because our boats are different from the norm, and so many are built by the people who sail them, we are all very individual and free-thinking, and we respect each other's views.  Occasionally we upset others unintentionally, sometimes because we make a joke that is not seen as a joke in another country, or because language is misunderstood, but it is soon forgotten.  We value our differences as well as the ways we are similar.

Many years ago I was on holiday in a house by the sea.  Early one morning I walked down to the beach.  I saw in the distance a big Wharram cat sailing away.  They had left a simple message written in the sand, just like in your picture.  One word - "Peace".

If only...
