Bulkhead supports epoxied to bulkheads. Brass pins, with the heads cut off, were used to keep the supports from sliding under clamping pressure.

you are pretty rich in clamps ....

for myself i use CP 6 mm for all the bulkheads

If you shop around you can usually find 6" spring clamps for about $1.50 each.  It's really hard to buiild wood strip kayaks without a box of spring clamps.
