Profile Information:

I am:
A home builder, I own a Wharram, Other Multihull
What boat (s) are you building or do you own?
Modified Oro with a center cabin & junk rig, currently sailing on a 16" marui cat.
Country, City, and State?
New Zealand
About me or us?
I have owned three other wharrams in the past.
1st Wharram was 30" found it standing on blocks under the motor way flyover, there were homeless people living in the boat. It was a mess.
After a lot of hard work, I sold the boat b4 I it got to the water & then I moved to England.
The Wharram in England I found abandoned on the river Mercie, I bought it from the Yacht Club. Again I left the country b4 I could get it on the water.
Teheni, whick is now "match sticks" she rotted out & no chance for repair.
Now I own an Oro with center cockpit.
Looking to?
Sail my new Oro - junk rigged to & live in the Phillipines.

Hi Iain, I am David Halladay with Boatsmith in Florida USA. I think you are thinking of Andy Smith with Junction Boatworks in the Philippines.

have you tried moving the hulls individually, then put them together in a boatyard?

also what about a flatbed lorry with a hyab, like a builders merchants lorry.

    just a thought

  • dave tomlinson

did you still need details of the oro in auckland , i have been away a few weeks sailing, dave

looks like you bought the tehini at dairy flat, lots of potential there, dave

name is duff 094730518 real simple steel straps wrapped around beams and down to hull sides, 4 on each beam, has workedwell for 30 years and no flexing so can add center cabin, duff has rebuilt cabin , ring him and have a look. nice trips to barrier great weather, boat went well in light winds better than windspeed and on the way out surfing at 15 knots. you got it at the right price is good , i am looking at a couple of better boats with more room at the moment, so could be selling mine before long ,its like a modern wharram concept in a way, will try and put a photo on my page. dave
