Ive been inspecting the rot in my tangaroa mk 4 beams and are not happy with what im finding so far....im yet to chase it to its extent but if its in middle planks of the laminate and goes through from front to back is it repairable? And do i need to chase till im in dry timber or can timber be wet but then dry un rotted?

Make new beams mate...No more worries.

Id say your right....pitty about the 2 grand I just spent on new brackets!

Its impossible to say but yes, it could be reparable or at list you cold salvage the top laminations and replace the cut off one.. Keep chipping the rot away until finding healthy dry timber then take a few pics and post them here. Timber mast be dry for gluing

Thanks, its looking like its gonna be sitting for a bit until i can dry dock it somewhere, then go from there.

Matt. Changing the beam can be done in the water. Dry dock is awfully expensive, It might be cheaper to get a professional to make the beam.  Dry dock the boat for work on the under water part of the hull if or when is needed.
