About me or us?
Stopped dreaming! But still "spying" on the experiences of those who have already started or completed. Thanks for everyone who shares, it really is a great help for those who are planning to start!
Looking to?
I am still thinking about building a big boat. But for the moment I am glad that I got started. So now I am trying to find my way as an apprentice boat builder and learning for the big one...

The Launch!

Even though I was more or less ready last year it took me again almost until the end of summer to finally launch my boat! It was awsome but as you can see almost no wind (so I still wait for a real test):…

It was a bit scary but car and hull survived it...

The start (actual building time so far 143,5 h)

I finally dare to go public with my build. I have absolutely no experience in boat building so I was not sure how far I will get. Now after 9 month I am confident enough that I will finish it.

I was surprised to find out that the main problem so far is to free some time for the build. The expected technical problems for me as a total greenhorn proved to be manageable so far.

Yesterday I just finished the fillets and keel glassing of the first hull. Now I face another delay, I…

Hi martin, just a question please.
I'm in the stage to close the foredeck. Bad surprise. When I place a straight line on top of bulkheads 3-2-1, the BK 1 seems too low (around 10 mm) or the BK 2 too high. Is it the same for you or I made a mistake somewhere ???

no prob.

For me a good working session will be necessary to adjust the foredeck, with deckstringers they are quite stiff.

I'm going to consider adding intermediate bulkhead like in :

Hi Martin,

Thanks a lot for your message. Good news for you. In fact, as my boat is 500 km far from my home, I could only analyse in december where I screwed up.

As I try to explain my problems to my wife, she assess the situation by economy, in Deustchland everything seems to toe the line and in France everything goes wrong....
