Ian thanks it is nice to know someone reads your stuff !! Going back to an earlier comment, there are contractors who deliver mobile homes. Typically they are winched up a beaver tail truck or trailer. Once your boat is on a trailer / trolley it can be handled the same. These homes are 10 ft wide the permission is a formality. The driver will take care of it. This is a competitive business prices are good. For many this would be a better option than an expensive trailer.
I am only familiar with EU towing regs. but even within EU some countries seem to apply their own. While trailers are regulated in width, limited overhangs are allowed. Up to 10 ft load needs only advance notice and no escort. Drivers will have the latest info. I have had no difficulty with my own road insurers.
That boat will cause quite a stir wherever it goes !!
