Hi Andy, can you advise the dimensions /specifications of the stainless pipe and rod? Regards Graham.
Hi Graham - I can't get to the boat right now to give you the exact specs, but the tube is around 35mm outer diameter, with wall thickness maybe 1,60mm. What is really important is that the inner shaft/rod is a "very good fit" - obviously you don't want it to be lose, but not too tight either, a snug fit that still allows the rod to turn. I used stainless for both, but you could also use some composite tube. When building it is important to line up the part that is attached to the cockpit accurately before gluing! I assembled it all with the shaft in place to be sure the two outer tubes lined up correctly and everything was straight. I use a split pin at each end to hold the rod in place.
Thanks very much for the advise.
