Autopilot for Wharram cat - tiller or wheel?

I'm considering getting an electronic autopilot for our Pahi 42, as we often find ourselves doing long passages under power in the summer with little or no wind (so wind vane would be of no use!) I…Continue

Asymmetric spinnaker & genoa control on larger Wharrams

Hi - I'd like to hear opinions on using an asymmetric spinnaker on a larger Wharram please. We currently use an old regular symmetric spinnaker, sheeting using two snatch blocks mounted near each bow…Continue

Good solutions for netting lashings?

I would like to hear how others solve the problem of fixing their netting securely, tight, but in a way that it is possible to get the whole net off easily for washing! I've threaded plastic covered…Continue

Standing rigging lashings - how tight? - & how?!

Hi everyone! I am sure many of you have some good ideas about this - how tight should the lashings for the standing rigging be? I have a Pahi 42 with conventional rig (ie bermudan cutter with boom).…Continue

"Hi Timo - I am guessing you are based in Finland from your name? We have a Pahi 42 in Espoo, of course much bigger than the Tiki 21! The Tiki 21 would be ideal for the Baltic - easy to sail, easy to get close to land in the archipeligo, very…"

Profile Information

I am:
I own a Wharram
What boat (s) are you building or do you own?
I own a Pahi 42 "Godzilla".
Country, City, and State?
Finland, Espoo
About me or us?
We have owned "Godzilla" now for about 5 years. She's undergoing a slow update, while we try to keep her afloat and sailing. We have done lots of renovation and modifications to her, most recent was rebuild of mast after we were dismasted (another story..). Beams have been repaired/replaced, engine pods redesigned and replaced. Interior is undergoing redesign and refurbishing. Everything takes time as winter is so cold it is impossible to work on her, except small parts at home. Spring time is always a rush to get back in the water!

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the encouragement with the Hitia / Baltic project.  A few hurdles to get over yet before I start planning exactly where to go (choosing and building a boat mainly!), but certainly hope to get to somewhere in Finland along the way and will look you up.

Hi Andy, I saw in an old comment you own a Pahi 42 and have a family of 5...
This interested me a great deal as I have 3 kids also (bit younger than yours!) and am very keen to transition from a motorhome (equivalent to a 32' monohull!) to a Wharram pahi 42 or tiki 46...
I'd love to hear any experiential wisdom you'd be willing to share from having already lived aboard with 5!
Best regards, Dave.
