Hi,
I have had some problems while sailing Kaimiloa, because the rope that surrounds the drum that is located behind the helm wheel and conected with the helm through an inox axis, jams itself and blocks the maneuverability of the ship.
One of the parts of the rope that exits the drum, goes over another turn or othr turns of the same rope around the drum.
I plan to modify the drum, and put channels (?) in which the rope go inside and is difficult to loosen and jam.
Hope this explanation is understandable (pic attached).
Any coments?
Thank you.
Regards

tks wakataitea and cynthia and jean paul.
i realize your ropes go one to starboard and the other to port; mine go both to port and run together with a 5 cm separation until the back of the pod, there they separate. i think this follow the plans, but...
i also realize now that according to plans the axis of the wheel helm pass through an important piece of hardwood and in my boat there is a short piece of nylon; then the axis is not completely fixed but has a little movement that produced a distorsion or curve in the axis. i'll try to correct this.
tks for your reply
