Our 21 tiki is progressing nicely . I used awlfair for the decks and hull and will continue with awlgrip 545 primer . the decks are complete and  sealed , ready to prime hulls . The next step is the crossbeams . Please please , anyone done this with 3x3 aluminum in place of the original wood beams ? Has anyone bolted the beams rather than lashing them . any feedback would be greatly appreciated .

Hi, I used aluminum beams on my Hinemoa 100mm x 100mm bolted thru beam mounts that bolt to deck carlings. Launched 3 yrs ago
Sailed in all sorts of weather, the hulls still flex independently. No rot or water ingression. The Hinemoa plans
Specify bolts ( pre tiki design).

hello Darren ,

I arrived at about the same dimension of crossbeam out of aluminum , may i ask what wall thickness you selected and what alloy # you selected . there are so many varibles , i want to use what has worked for you . Seems a little heavier in weight .
