A Photo & Discussion Forum for Wharram Design Enthusiasts

Hello Wharram builders,
I am a new guy on the block from The Netherlands. I signed up for this site some time ago, but never got around to participating. It seemed strange to put up text and photo's here while I have a site of my own containing the whole story of building my Tiki-26 Castor & Pollux. So I never contributed anything. But now in the the short days of winter I find myself in need of some action to regain my drive to continue my project.
It's been quite a while since I did any building on my boat. Last year it was too cold for epoxy much of the time, which frustrated the progress and thus myself. So I took my distance for a while to regain my enthusiasm. Now after about two months my hands start to itch again. I find myself watching Tiki-video's on youtube and browsing known Tiki builder-sites. And that is just about all I can do in winter. The only other thing I can think of is to bring my own site up-to-date and enlarge its popularity. That way other builders can learn from my do's and don'ts.
But this raises a question: How can I make it easier for visitors of wharrambuilders.ning.com to have access to my site without having to copy everything to this site?.
Any suggestions?
And before I forget, the building of Castor & Pollux is at http://gorbynet.nl/Bouwproces/Bouwproces.html
It is in Dutch, but should be readable with a translator.
Greetings...

Hi Gorby!

nice to meet you! my name is Filippo and I write from Italy. You really have a nice web site!

From your post I read you don't work during winter due to low temperature, maybe I can suggest you to use an infrared light to warm up resin befor you apply it.

I use this system during winter (for example today it was 2-3 °C all day), the resin needs more time to cure, but... it works fine!

have a look on my site and keep your enthusiasm!

Very nice to hear that you like my site. Like your site as well! Haven't found a way to translate it yet though. And thanks for the tip with the infrared light. I already use a form of pre-heating by putting the resin and hardener in a insulated box with a heat-source. I use an old refrigerator as an insulated box and heat it up with a lightbulb which is controlled by an oldfashioned thermostat. Works fine up to 25 degrees. But maybe your way works better.

But a lot has happened since my last post. I had to move my hulls to a new location because there was mildew on them because of the humidity in the shed. Now I have a larger shed which is insulated and can be heated. The move can be seen on my site. But first I have to set up shop on the new location, so I won't work on the boat until april. See you then...

Greeting from Holland
