I don't currently own a boat. I sold my last monohull a few years ago and am now looking at building my next boat. I used to make my living as a composites technician in both the marine and light sport aircraft fields. I have worked for two large boat building companies, and another smaller engineering firm who specialized in advanced composites. I also owned a marine maintenance and restoration business in S. Florida for a number of years. Now, I live in Thailand and I want to build myself a boat to travel the Islands of the Gulf of Thailand and the South Pacific. I've got a few modern designs in mind and a couple of concept designs that I like. However, I've always really liked Wharrams boats, especially his Classic designs and the Tiki series of boats. I'm seriously considering the Tiki 30 and 31. However, I really don't need that much boat and a Tiki 26 with a deck pod would be sufficient for my needs. I especially like the Tanenui and am considering doing one in foam sandwich. It will probably be my last boat build, so this one will get all the proper materials and attention to detail, that I couldn't afford when I was younger. Not that I'm old...or wealthy. But now, I've got a bit more clarity of thought and less commitments, so I can concentrate on just one boat I know I want to be able to dismount whatever boat I build and trailer it, or keep it at home to work on.
