"Actually they are not that hard to make out of wood. You could use good clear decking timber and glue up. If you decided you didn't want to paint them you could just graphite and epoxy a thin v around the glue line to protect from uv or use…"

One of my tillers broke as a friend of my son used it to lever himslef out of the water...just thinking about alternatives  than bent wood- that might be easier to make and less to maintain. eg has anyone used aluminium tubing? or clamped tiller to side of rudderor used a more conventianal tiller/rudder fitting ie s/s fitting that tiller locates in with locking pin.Thank you!See More

Tiki 26 GRP

Multimarine built GRP, owned by current owner for 9 years and currently afloat in Plymouth.  Recently copper coated, new rudders, very good main with 3 reef points, genoa not so good but with roller reefing, storm sails, spinaker but more of a gennaker and pole.  Basic electric set up include solar panel.  The grp beams were extensively rebuilt 2 years ago, deck repainted, aluminium mast - however this is an older boat - with history - sailed the Atlantic with Bob Beggs.  Due to time/distance…See More

"Thank you everyone much appreciated - especially the photos and using the main halyard to check even distance. I think more mast rake must help tacking (a bit like when you tack a windsurfer) but obviously not to create excess weather helm."
