I have finished most of my small parts and I’m finally starting the first hull.   I have the lower panels loosely stitched to the keel and will be stitching in the bulkheads soon.   Any advise from…Continue

Tiki 30 progress

I’m 2 years in averaging around 20 hours per month.  Yes, very part time but still enjoying it.  The beams, tillers, hatchs, mast and other small parts are complete.   I’m just now fitting the upper panels to the first hull.   Building one hull at a time due to space limitations.  The upper panels have been the most intimidating so far.   Any advice from the Cretan’s out there???See More

"Epoxy being susceptible to the sun you'll have to have it always painted as being the mast flexible you'll have to wet the glass with epoxy so that the glass does not de-laminate.All considered I'd go with just a varnished mast that…"

"Hey Robert, thanks for the input.   I have been concerned about the weight of the mast.   I’m slightly over 100 pounds as is and I still have to add the crane, shoulders and final paint."

"I would avoid adding any extra weight aloft unless it is called for in the design. Hopefully the mast is strong enough when built as the designer intended. An epoxy primer and three coats of a two-part LPU paint should provide adequate abrasion…"

Mast construction

Does anyone have thoughts on glassing a wooden mast.  I’m building Tiki 30.  I opted to build using the “birds beak” method because of material availability.   I’m very pleased with the final product.   I was considering adding a layer of glass to the mast for additional strength and maybe peace of mind.   I have a glassing technique that I am comfortable and confident in so there is not endless painting and sanding to get a smooth finish.  Any thoughts anyone???See More

Looking to?
I recently purchased an 8 year old tiki 26. There are a few areas that need a little attention and I would like to get my hands on some plans so I can keep any projects true to the original design.

Hi Jeff, I live down here in St Pete - I work at North Beach Windsurfing in St Pete Beach as their beginner instructor/repair dude/asistant shopkeeper & shipping packer. I would love to check out your 26 sometime as I've not seen one in person yet. I hope you're coming along nicely with your modified 30.
