Final checks on my transom/engine well arrangements for new Tiki 21 platform. I've gone for 12 degree slope and should just clear the rear beam. This is a much lower arrangement to get the cav plate down 250mm below the water. Honda's minimum is 100mm. I'm trying to reduce the typical Tiki 21 cavitation problems.

Another thing I did to reduce cavitation was change to the small pitch propeller - it made a huge difference, even with my mounting which is standard height. With the standard prop it would cavitate at half throttle in smooth water - with the small pitch prop I can get full throttle in smooth water with no cavitation. In rough water, I can maintain drive at half throttle whereas there was hopeless cavitation with the standard pitch prop.

I'd read your blog on the prop pitch before and I will buy a new prop for the motor in due course. It's yet another expense to add to all the rest: paint, rigging, mooring, insurance..... Wow I hope we have a good summer after all this.
