What is a proper weight for the sailcloth for a T30 mainsail?
What are you sailors using and how does it work for you?
I received an offer for sails from Rolly Tasker in Thailand and they suggested a 5 oz cloth. Seems a bit light to me.

I think I had 6 oz (5oz was not available when the sails were built for my Tiki 30) and it was perfectly fine. If you plan on doing most of your sailing in areas of higher winds, then 5-6oz will be fine. If you will be in lighter winds more often, I would go with 4 oz.

So long as you keep the sun off of them when not in use, and watch the chafe points, they should easily last 20 years.
