G'day David, I am planning on restoring my Hinemoa , here in Queensland , but using aluminium cross beams . I note that yours are round section alloy tube , could you please advise the cross section dimensions and the wall thickness used ?
David , Thanks for that advice . Certainly takes out the guess work for me . Just out of interest what was the final weight of a beam compared to the timber originals ?

Hi Graham
I made the beams 3400mm wide, a little wider than standard i believe ..
The Ali tubes were 150mm diameter and 5mm thick wall , a bit of an overkill but would never fail
Had a local Ali boat building firm weld them up for me ..
i also used50mm tybe for bow and stern to hang nets off and a sort of dolphin catcher on bow tube ..
