Boris:
I was sailing today with my 12 year old son and he said: "This really is an exotic and extravagant boat. Everyone looks at us and say "Look those crazy people in such an exotic boat!".
I built it mostly because I wanted to learn how to do strip-planking and for it's aesthetic value (I find it very beautiful). I wouldn't recommend it if someone wants a practical boat just for non complicated sailing. Everything is diferent, the oars/rudder is unconfortable, there is almost no room on the cockpit, the crab-claw sail doesn't work well in aft very low winds. But if you like exotic boats, and sailing twice as fast as any monohull, maybe it's your boat. I'll be posting more pictures and photos I took today, in
Best regards.
Hector.
I saw your T2 sailing video on youtube today. Really cool!! I find, the sailing charakteristics are looking very good and fast. The best is the movement of your camera during your capsize - like in an action movie of Steven Spielberg! Can´t wait for my Melanesia when I see this, but I guess the T2 has much better sailing characteristics. I was already building a while on the melanesia when I found the page of Gary Dierking. I think today I would make a decision for the T2. Do you know how many hours you needed to complete the boat? Another question: do you know a bi-componente colour wich is `ok´ for the underwater part of the boat? I phoned with `International´ but their bi-componente colour `perfection´ is not applicable for this function.
Greetings Boris
