For final rounding, a custom scraper was made from a basic rectangular, cabinet scraper. This was ground out to the correct radius, and fitted with two wooden handles so it would cut in both directions. Burnished every few minutes, this homemade tool pulled nice shavings and created a perfect round shape, using much less effort than the sandpaper method described in the instruction booklet.
