Wharram Builders and Friends

A Photo & Discussion Forum for Wharram Design Enthusiasts

I am continually amazed at how much Dolphins seem to like Wharrams. I have had a number of close encounters on my Tiki 21 and my Tiki 31. The story on my page talks about the Dolphins I saw in the Bay of Biscay and I ahve attached some Dolphin photos to my page. It could be the clean entry and acceleration but I've seen more Dolphins in 2 years on Tikis than 30 years on big monohulls.

I would be interested to hear about anyone elses encounters with Dolphins.

Cheers
Paul

You know Paul, now that I think about it, I have experienced a higher percentage of dolphin encouters from aboard mulit hulls than mono hulls. But, I have seen more whales from mono hulls. Hmmm....I will have to go sailing some more and gather data haha
As you suggest, maybe it is a velocity thing.

Regardless, I know that when I bang on the side of the hull, the dolphins like to come over to see what is going on.
