Any headroom upgrade in Tiki 30 is welcome. Becouse he have "almost" headroom. At the beginning of our construction, we considered the possibility of increasing the headroom (or "rigth foot", like we say here), but due to inexperience we follow the plan. This is my advice, if you have no experience, follow the plan!

Yep, some thoughts here....... changes from Wharram plans make sense if the configuration of an original Oceanic Pahi is chosen, where hulls are not duplicates and one hull has accommodation area expanded. This would mean changing to a modified crab-claw sail rig, as seen on the canoe Ontong Java.

At 30' I am managing to get substantially better internal/accomodation space than a standard Wharram offers, and having seriously considered mods to a Hinemoa, which had a major lack of usable interior space, I think the possibilities are worth considering. However, rig changes are a must do,so if Bermudan Sloop or Wharram Wing are a big factor then just stick to the original plans.
Hi Brett,... Great !!
Hi Lindsay- This boat was built north of Auckland in the Warkworth area. It was built with offshore in mind. I know who built it but it has changed hands since then. If you give me a call I can pass on the builders details. 027 645 2906 regards Brett

WaveDancer is a very nice boat. What do you mean by 'no knuckle' ?

The above custom raising of the deck seems a very economical way of gaining head height ,raising the c/beam to wave height with out gaining much weight. As far as I can see they just lengthened the bulkheads ,added the upstand and glassed the upstand to hull join.I havent been able to talk to the owner yet but will keep trying.

If you ad more weight you have to reconsider the buoyancy as it was done for my boat. "WaveDancer" has 3 feet longer, slight wider hulls (no knuckle) and reinforced beams.

She does look nice.

But, do you need to modify (improve???) a well proven ocean sailing vessel?

Raising the beams etc will increase windage and add increased loads to beam joints, all of which would need careful consideration

If you haven't already, get a copy of the Wharram design book and read the articles on his website.
