Depth Transducer mounting question.

Where and how have people mounted their depth transducers, especially on the nearly vertical sides of a Tiki, like my 38?

 I had a swiveling pole mount early on but that didn't survive much past the first few days, which were on the  ICW. .

I have gone through several iterations of externally mounted, transom type transducer mounts on my T38. They are fantastic for the various scans you can choose. The detailed view of the bottom is really helpful. But they keep getting torn off when I hit clumps of seaweed at speed. The last time the four screws were torn out of the plastic body, leaving the bracket intact. Luckily the wire stayed attached and the transducer was thrown into my engine box by a wave. But like a football player after a hard hit on the head, it's never been quite the same. They are too expensive to keep replacing.

I did add a 4 inch diameter straight epoxy plug for a through-the-hull transducer before sealing everything up during building. The original plan was to glue a vertical tube over the epoxy plug, fill the tube with mineral oil , drop in the transducer and seal it up.  I have gone back to that original idea but Garmin are telling me they don't think my new transducer will work for that angle, given the amount of fluid and the angle of the plug/hullside. The maximum adjustability for regular mounting is 22 degrees. The Tiki 38 hulls must be three times that angle. 

How have y'all solved this?
