I'm able to pack an inflatable into the front hatch on my 21. It's not a top quality inflatable, but a medium quality vinyl thing. It's quite big, and I'm thinking of getting another smaller one which will pack down even smaller in the hatch.

I use a proper tender to get to the boat, which I then leave on the mooring. So I only need something to take on trips where I need to get to shore.

Hi

by choice I am on a small budget. Every bought item ends up in the bin sooner or later.

At the moment I am intrigued by the one sheet dinghies. They are very light and can be quite attractive. They are quick to build and should fit in front of the mast. An example: http://hvartial.kapsi.fi/ossauray/auray_u.htm 7'2" x 3'3"

Cheers

Check out a Folding dinghy from here. I want to build an Origami for my 21 to keep on rear tramp. I just use my SUP as a dinghy now and like it a lot.

Portabote is a good, albeit $$$$$ option

Thanks Robert,

I want to avoid something that could be stolen very quickly. I take note of the spray protection. I had thought of that too.

Robert Hughes said:…

My tender is a Tinker foldaway RIB, which stows neatly ahead of the mast. When it's there it reduces the amount of spray reaching the cockpit. This tender also has a sailing rig on a four part mast.
