Hi everyone,

My Tiki 31 needs a new owner. Regretfully she has been neglected and has become a project boat. The hulls are fine. The gunnels, top and some beams need replacement. sails are complete.

I will not be able to work on her or finish the project because I have been diagnosed with metastatic carcinoma. Ready for the green pastures so they say.

I do not have recent photo's, but I will post the photo's that I have

Price reduced for Tiki 46 Peace IV.

Peace is now priced at $99,000 US. This is a crazy and rediculous price for a good, well built, ocean sailing full time live aboard boat. Peace was surveyed 8 times during the build and we have copies of this stating that she was well built and made to plan or all alterations approved by designer. She won a major prize at Mystic Seaport Wooden Boat Show. Peace was our home for 12 years. She needs a little tickle with a paint brush.…

This boat was built with finest materials. Nev is nearly 80. It is time for this boat to sell and for us to get a small boat for local waters. So come and buy this boat.

Neville and I have been working over the winter to clear our things out of Peace IV and we are impressed with the carrying capacity of the boat and the hoarding ability of ourselves! The boat came up about 4 or 5 inches and, although she always had a good turn of speed, I would expect her to be quite fast now! The bilges were epoxy coated from new according to the plans and then varnished so it has been interesting and reassuring to see them empty again, all in good shape, and about as they were back in the building shed.

The price will be $134,950 US which is what you and I would call 135k. Peace is at the dock currently while we continue cleaning and doing little odd jobs and enjoying the pleasant warm sunshine and good friends we have met here at the marina. This is Peace's first time at a marina since her launch back in 2002 and we must admit is quite pleasant and sociable. It is a rural location up a river and around the corner in a small creek here in Eastern North Carolina.

We had planned to sail Peace south as usual for the winter last autumn, but discovered that Nev's balance was not good enough for him to do any deck work with the boat in motion and I am not prepared to single hand such a large boat at my age. We did have over 50,000 safe and enjoyable miles and lots of fun living aboard so we really can't complain. It is fortunate that we now have a house we can live in full time now and when Peace sells, we will buy a smaller boat that I can single hand and that has a pilot house for Nev to keep safe in while he navigates. Nothing is permanent in this life and we do enjoy this part of our lives and just want to be safe and laid back now. Nev is pushing 80. I think something around 30 feet will be best. Maybe a sailboat and maybe not. We will see. We start Tai Chi classes tomorrow to improve his balance so he will be safe aboard and able to use the dinghy safely.

The list of equipment is long and so I will just highlight a few things here:

New Pro Furl roller furler for the head sail 2014

New sail cover (Stack Pack style) 2014

New halyards 2014

New electric panel 2014

New battery for windlass 2014

New mattress owner's cabin 2014

As far as we know, Peace is structurally sound, but she does need paint. We had planned to paint Peace in the Bahamas last year, but had to quit because of a family problem. Then we did not go south this year either. So if you can just wield a paint brush, this would be a good deal for someone who does not want to build the whole boat. I am quite sure you could not build a Tiki 46 using okume (gaboon) marine plywood and all top grade materials ready to cross an ocean for 135 thousand dollars today. Just the materials would cost that much and still, you would have to paint your home built boat. So save yourself some work and buy this one and paint it.

The sails were overhauled 2014 and are in very good condition, the engines are four years old and reliable 20 hp Yamahas, and there are all LED lights, the blocks are mostly Garhauer and the shackles are mostly Wichard. A fine Monitor windvane is on her stern with a clever set up for maintaining compass setting. A powerful autohelm works fine from the wheel. There is an 80 pound Monson Supreme anchor, 200 ft 5/16 high test chain and about 200 ft multiplait nylon rode backing that. The windlass is Ideal and was custom made for our boat. There is a 60 pound secondary anchor and similar chain and rode. A deck water collection works fine. Four AGM 105Ah house - engine batteries are fed by four large solar panels. A refrigerator - freezer has its own battery, regulator, and two large solar panels. Many spares.

Registered in UK therefor European Union VAT paid. Also US duty paid. So this boat already has two "passports".

I could go on and on, but if you are interested, just contact us and let us show you the boat.

All the best, Ann and Nev
This time we are serious - Peace IV is for saletag:wharrambuilders.ning.com,2014-11-29:2195841:Topic:1235952014-11-29T00:34:44.839ZAnn and Neville Clementhttps://wharrambuilders.ning.com/profile/AnnandNevilleClement922

Several times in the past couple of years, Nev and I have considered putting Peace IV up for sale and once we actually did put her on the market for two weeks, but always we chickened out at the last minute and kept her for another year. We always wanted another trip from New England to the Bahamas, and we loved her and enjoyed living aboard our lovely boat.

But now Neville is pushing 80 and his new knees are ok but not wonderful. We were expecting to sail to Bahamas again…

We were expecting to sail to Bahamas again this year and happy that we would only have to sail from North Carolina where we bought a house this past summer, so the trip would be only half as far. We were looking forward to the ease of a new sail cover invention by Hodges Street Sail repair which they call a "Gaff Pack" and we had all new electric panel, new inflatable dinghy, new halyards, and a bunch of other new stuff. We fueled up, got tons of food aboard, water in the tanks, and anchored out in the river to wait for wind so we could get a quick start at first light.

We waited for a few days and I watched Nev move around the boat with discomfort and poor balance. I was glad he would have a few more days to sort himself out. But he never did. He is just not physically able to safely live aboard our boat any more. He has too much joint pain all over his body and old age has weakened him so the high steps going in and out of the cabins are tiring. His balance is not good. I am 71 and doing ok, but I am not able to single hand this big boat for any length of time - my stamina is not what it once was.

So we had a real serious discussion about old age, limited energy, restricted movement, and pain. Actually pain sucks, in case you have never had a lot of it. If you have a lot of pain for a long time, some activities become more of a trial and not much fun. Pain, weakness, and poor balance due to restricted mobility add up to a risky situation. So we headed back to the dock and tied her up the day before Thanksgiving and drove home picking up a turkey along the way. We were sad, but relieved that the final decision has been made. We will never sail Peace IV ever again.

Over the winter we will clear and clean Peace IV after all of our 12 years of living aboard. In the spring we will use the new 28 foot wide travel lift that is right here in Oriental so we can sand and paint outside as needed. And we have a broker who will take over all the arrangements of finding a new family to take Peace IV into her next adventures.

At Nev's age, most men want a trawler. At my age, I still want a sailboat. So we will compromise and get a small motor sailor for our local waters. I have lived aboard boats named Peace full time for almost 30 years and Nev has been with me for the past 23 years. We put 50,000 miles on Peace IV and had a wonderful time. But I love my man more than that boat. His comfort is important and after all our experience, we know full well that we both need to be safe aboard.

I think we will have Peace IV ready for a new buyer in the spring. More information will be posted here then. If anybody has pictures of Peace or memories of sailing with us, and want to post them, please do.

Many thanks to all here who have befriended us and our boa over the yearst. Wishing all a Happy Holiday Season and fair winds into the New Year - Ann and Nev

Last year, we trailered our Tiki 26 to Florida for a wonderful cruise in the Keys, and while it was a fantastic example of what is possible with a small Wharram cat, we wonder if there might be an even better solution that would decrease our time, expense and carbon footprint, while helping someone else to enjoy the Life. Is there anyone out there who would be interested in trading 2-3 weeks' use of their boat in the tropics this winter for the same up here on our boat next summer?
