Hi Bertrand, I like the work you have done, very professional. We are going to be building a Tiki 46 (inspired by Ann and Nev) and would like to know what size engines you have installed and what kind of stuffing box you used to go through the keel. Also, do you have variable props? In the picture above, where the driveshaft goes through, is that the bulkhead of the flotation chamber?

Any info would be appreciated,

Hi Bruce and Glynis

Good idea to build a Tiki46, be patient because it's a big and long  work.

A Beta 25HP is installed in each hull with in parallel a 10KW electric engine (its not possible to use the two in the same time). They drive a three fixed blades 17x11". In partnership with Hybrid Marine and Bruntons we'll test a Bruntons Autoprop in one hull next Summer to compare it with the fixed propeller in the other hull in propulsion and regeneration mode in different conditions of sea and wind.

The driveshaft goes through the 9th bulkhead which is under the double bunk. In my blog or pictures I put a drawing showing how I made it with an epoxy tube.

To complete my blog which is not yet actualised, Marie-Helene made in French a Web site : http://maheyo.free.fr/

I just added a few photos about our building with one showing te engine ready to run with its PSS stuffing box.

Bon courage

Bertrand
