A Photo & Discussion Forum for Wharram Design Enthusiasts

Hello

Fourteen years after to have purchase the plan of the Tiki46 N°2 the boat is ready for lauch.

After to have dismantle she, all the parts are put out of the hangar. The more difficult job was to put out the hulls because the ground is not very smooth outside :

Sorry to don't have yet actualise the blog of her building. I'll complete the blog in a few weeks after the launch.

Initially I plan to transport her a few days ago, but the transporter has been unable to do the job before his holidays, so GRAND PHA will join the marina of Brest to be reassemble the 27 August and will be launched a week later.....

To know more about the last parts of her building, have a look at the website of my wife :

Hello Ann and Nev

After so many years on board Peace4, it will be a great change in your life to stay at home during all the winter.

Nev, I wish you will recovery quickly all your mobility after your second knee replacement and you'll sail again in the south for the next winters.

On my hand these last years were not a a leisurely build, especially since we sold PHA : to work alone all the days all the year without holidays. Now after this last hard work to re-assemble the boat and to check if all is OK before sailing, I want want to have rest on board in learning to know how handle our new boat.

Thank you for your advices. In fact now we don't have plan our exact route. One of our main wish is to join our grand children in Australia and to sail in the Pacific ocean without to know yet via which way. We'll advise according the weather forecast and the politic situation around the world.

Love from Bertrand and Marie-Helene

Hello Claudia and Luis
Thank you for your moral support.

Yesterday we visited Pete Hill and Carly on board there new catamaran Oryx (with one mast on each hull) who was anchored in the Rade de Brest. After they visited our boat at home. We hope to meet them on the water later in November.

It's possible we'll visit you in a few months before to join Australia via South Africa  as did Pete when he delivered his previous catamaran in Tasmania.

Bravo Bertrand and Marie-Helene!  I just saw the photos of Grand Pha afloat! You must be very proud, and it is well deserved.

PICTURES!!!!!   Congratulations and loads of love and impatience to see PICTURES!!!!!!!   Ann and Nev

Congratulations! What an absolutely wonderful boat, and what a huge project brought to a successful completion -- or should I say, to a successful beginning?

All the best to you both from us and our project!

Hello

Thank you Hans, we have to make some adjustments with our rig after to have tested it with only one sail in sailing in the Iroise sea .

Luis, Pete and Carly with their new Oryx helped us one day when we re assembled the boat. We hope to meet them in South Portugal later. Present time I finish to install the electronic gear at anchorage in the Rade de Brest. Last night a storm passed through our area and happily the anchor is strong.

Ann and Nev, in the next days, I'll prepare a few photos for Wharram builders. You can already see a lot on the site of Marie-Helene :  GRAND PHA

The monday 10th September a crane of 55T, two big trucks with long and low trailers and a shorter truck arrived and lifted the two hulls and the pod to transport them to the marina of Brest.

In the afternoon the hulls are put on the ground and so the masts from the deck to allow to put the beams. more easily.

The first job with the help of familly and friends is to adjust the aligment and the distance of the hulls with rolling lifting jacks . Before the end of the day the beams are put on te hulls and fixed with the cental pins and lashes.

She is so absolutely beautiful!
