impressive the speed !  one question,  does the pontoon sinks always as the photo shows, or it's due to the high speed?

the pontoon of my melanesia sinks a lot even at low speed, and I suspect that it's due to the high weight (it's a pine solid log)

Hi,

We had some problem to find wood at the right density. So we chose to follow the target weight as written on the plan. It's a bit too dense, it sinks easily but because we sail the two of us we can counterbalance when the outrigger is leeward. Our wood is plain "pin sylvestre" (sylvester pine?)

The woodseller had samples at the right density but when we bought and built it was much too heavy so we cut a slice. We think the samples were in the ofiice for years and were really dry because of air conditionning.

I think that we could add some sort of polysterene or leave a gap inside to lower the density. If you sail singlehanded you may really think of it.

Thanks all of you above for your comments.

We'll try to break the record one of these weeks.
