I have no problem raising my mast on me own, maybe it's an age thing hey Lee?

Comment by paul anderson on January 27, 2013 at 2:53pm

Well I think I have made the right decision to delay the launch of my tiki as we are going thru a hell of a time here with ex tropical cyclone Oswald dumps heaps of rain with massive surf and winds.

Good decision Paul. How close are you now? Cheers Duncan

Hi Lee, very interesting!

I want to do the same, but I have a wooden mast that must be heavier than yours. How do you attach the lever arm to the mast?

Comment by paul anderson on January 27, 2013 at 4:16pm

hey Duncan i am nearly done all that remains is the wiring and paint job inside the living areas.A few minor/cosmetic finishes.

Comment by kim whitmyre on January 27, 2013 at 5:05pm

Well, Paul, you can practice mast-raising until conditions improve. . . ;~)

Comment by kim whitmyre on January 27, 2013 at 5:13pm

Andrés, my "gin pole" is an aluminum tube, to which I attached an eye-bolt at the head, and a piece of 1" marine ply cut to fit the mast at the foot-end. Unfortunately, mine was shorter, so it still took 2 of us: my friend lifting the mast, and me cranking on the winch .

Comment by kim whitmyre on January 27, 2013 at 5:16pm

I'm now waiting for Paul's comments on my cranking on the shorter pole . . .  ;~)
