I think I would enjoy a Wayfarer , or something similar .

I`m thinking about something that assembles easier to make it suitable to use at short notice ,
a boat that ( possibly ) folds out , then secured with bolts or locking pins......
A boat I could use for a quick evening sail in summer , after a days ` work.

The Wayfarer rig intrigues me ...there does not appear to be a mast , just the two yards ?

I built a sailing kayak long-long ago it was great fun complete with ketch rig !! Saw a beauty recently one of the old [ canvas ] folding type about 18ft with ketch rig and  junk sails it was fast !!

I would love to see more general discussion on this forum which was I believe the intention of Budget Boater when he started it.

Congratulations on getting a boat good for what ever kind of cruising you decide to do.  As I remember that boat, you might want to check her over real well on the port hull.  Seems there might be a couple issues there outboard side near the windows.  But maybe they got to that already.  He did a lot of stuff to that boat over the years... fancy stainless stuff etc. 

The paint we liked that worked so well on Peace was oil based polyurethane porch and deck paint from Home Depot.  The oil based bit is important.  We found the paint easy to  use and excellent wearing as deck paint with Behr non skid additive one pouch to a gallon.  The gallons were $25.  We have some paint that has been wearing well and it looks perfect even after 4 years.  I do not know how important the lay up is, but here is the lay up for our boat and it might be important for how well the paint works.  Peace had fiberglass from new, then filler made with microlite, then two part undercoat two coats, then two part Jotun marine paint two coats.  That was all perfect for about 4 years.  Then we repainted with the Glidden oil based polyurethane porch and deck paint using Behr non skid additive and it worked for 4 years and we did it again and now it has been 4 years.  It is time to repaint.  If I were going to keep the boat, I would use that same paint. 

We used this paint for the topsides.  It is excellent paint and is maybe better wearing than the highly expensive two part Jotun paint.
