The double mainsheet works well. The strop that attaches the mainsheets to the block at the mainsail clew allows the mainsail to easily self-tend when short-tacking up a channel, or when you are content with basic trim.  Beyond that, say if you are on starboard tack, you can ease the starboard mainsheet to get the mainsail further off center,  and trim the port mainsheet to put the draft where you want it fore or aft.

The modified double-camcleat  allows you to either take both sheets in hand, or take a single sheet in hand, for trimming or easing.

All in all, I am happy with the increased ability to shape the sail to conditions, and open up the center of the aft netting beam for the solar panel system.

There is a couple of shots on my page of the Harken double camcleat I modified:

I simply used an aluminum u-channel with 2 bullseye fairleads  bolted(to allow swiveling) to it. the channel itself is pinned to the Harken camcleat where the expected double block would go in its traditional role.

Thanks for that. I think I will try and emulate the double cam cleat set up. that's just how I imagined it working. Any chance of seeing some videos of the set up working?
