Hi and welcome to this interesting web site which we only joined a couple weeks ago.

We built our Tiki 46, and in the process became associated with Wharram Designs. You can buy plans off the internet or from us and it is the same cost either way. But the first step for you is to think which boat to get and how to get it.

Do you buy used, build, or have it built? Your first step there is to consult with the budget. Which to get? That is first of all a matter of how many are going sailing. A smaller boat is less to buy or build. You will be done sooner. A larger boat is easier to live on but you will need better blocks and winches to manage the larger loads. Nothing is easy about boats. Certainly the most perfect boat is the one you are dreaming of which is totally flawless. Real boats need maintainence, but the joy of sailing them is so intense, the maintainence is no bother, really. With modern epoxy boat building, it is not a problem.
Good luck to you! Ann and Nev
