2015 Tiare makeover

"Hi Andy, if you're referring to the bare aluminimium then yes the getting rid if the paint and fillers is going to reduce the ongoing maintenance, has been a year and already starting to go a dull grey, hoping that in a few more years will go…"

Cooper Dan replied to Cosby's discussion Too big for a couple? Pahi 52 Islander 55 Tiki 46
"Hi Cos, We own Tiare, an Islander 55. Yes it can be sailed by a couple, also single if you are the cautious type. The masts are short so sails are pulled up by hand, lowering and raising the anchor, stowing the chain as it comes in, are easily done…"

Cooper Dan replied to Mike Haromy's discussion Rudder Lashings: epoxy in place or caulk?
"Hi Björn, How did you knot the ends of the dyneema? I was reluctant to use as the dyneema is so slippery and concerned they would slip. I need remove (again) and then strip the rudders back to wood and see what's happened after a couple…"

"Just to clarify. Our rudders touched and scraped bottom after our ropes stretched during strong winds."

Koh Samui Thailand

Checked out of Thailand today, ready to leave early Sunday for Terengganu, Malaysia.

Harbour Master wanted 1000Bhat, no receipt. When pushed it was for an "engineer", naturally no engineer had seen us so he didn't get his 1000Bhat. Customs was sweet and so was Immigration, although took a while as the final signature was on condition that he showed me his house plans on the computer :-)

Islander 55 Rudder lashings

We needed to repair the SB rudder as it had developed a crack on the leading edge.

I was a little apprehensive. But as the images show is a relatively straight forward job to reinstall.
The rudder needs to be hung up, loosely with the lashings.
Then braced and centered.
The gap at the bottom is slightly oversized.
Start at the top and work down.
We have a a bit of hardwood shaped like a leg? bone that is used to lever the lashing…

Hi Hans
Currently at Pangkor Island, Lumut, Malaysia.
Just finished a contract and busy getting Tiare ready for next adventure
Left to do is haul out for new anti foul, build a tender with the boys, finish the new kitchen and build a fridge.
Soo we hope to be either on our way up to where you are mid to late October (before the wind changes) or we'll stay here another season.
The marina owner here has organised four I beams and will use them to slip us on his SeaLift.
Would be great to meet up with you.
Private email address? I have few questions for you.
Warmest regards
Daniel.
