we spend the last 12 month sailing from the Philippines to Thailand. we meet a lot of wharrams on the way.... sadly, 80 % of all this boat are in pieces and resting on the hard.we saw in thailand: 1 pahi 50, 2 tiki30+, 2 tiki46, 1 tiki21and in the Philippines 1 tiki38 out of order... we spoke to some (new) owners, the boats where not old, 5-7 years old but often for many month "out off order..."what is it with this wharram community? do we like building, fixing, playing with new construction…See More
This is a group for all the owners of Classic Wharrams out there. These older designs are a bit different than the newer stitch and glue designs and have different advantages and different problems. See More
I am originally from Australia. I learnt to sail in Dinghies when I was a kid and progressed to skiffs before my dad joined the Townsville Multihull group in Townsville in the 70's. I fell in love with off the beach cats sailing Arrows. Tornadoes, Hobbie 16's etc... but my grandfather bought a 24ft Tailer Sailor and so it was back to monos to crew for him in Jervis Bay Australia...finally some years later I was able to buy a beautiful Crowther 28ft Buccaneer Trimaran which I raced and cruised in Pittwater on the northern beaches of Sydney till I relocated overseas for my work.
Now I am older and wiser I am more into the cruising lifestyle so I am happy to change the pace and love the Wharram Tiki 38 for exploring South East Asia.
