I also want to change the hatch covers and make them solid. And here I could need some more info. You made your covers from 4mm plywood backed with enforcements of 12 mm? I am not sure if I understood this correctly. Is it solid enough to sit on?

And one more question I have. I did not see in your pictures how you attached them to the hulls. Or do they stay in place themselves? I fear if a wave comes over it would at least leak if not fixed tightly to the hull...

Fell free to ask me about anything not clear. In this page you will see very detailed photos of the deck. It was made of 4mm cedar plywood with 12 by 35 mm on every 12 cm distance each one. if you have lighter plywood, would be better to use 6 mm thick.

The two main spars are longer and pass below the boat beams (mast and rear) in excess of about 4 cm, so you can fix it to the beams with 4 squared lashings, each one of 3 turns of pre stretched polyester rope.

in the 4 edges of the spars i´ve fixed a small nylon cylinder to keep the lashings securely in place.

It proved to be a very strong method of fixation, And flexible enough to keep the original (wharram design) hull and beam structure flexibility
