Welcome from the west of Ireland. I sail my PAHI 31 on the west of Ireland. I built her 20yrs. ago. This design has collected modifications over the years be sure to get details of them. I am happy to share my experience and will try not to be too grumpy...
I hope to be on the west Scottish coast this summer but this is an ambition not a firm plan at present.
Thanks! The rate I'm going it will be 20 years before I finish - I still havn't got the plans!! NIce to see your photos, they give a real sense of scale. There are plenty of photos of Tiki 38's but although there must be a few Pahi 31's out there, photo's and videos are pretty scarce. It would be great to hear some of your experience in building, or any advice relating to the Pahi 31 !!. Modification wise, I know there is a Mod for a Wing Sail, and I've seen others like deck pods and cabin top mods which give a little more headroom. Personally I'm not too bothered about the headroom, or a deck pod but the Wing Sail rig is of interest. What sail rig do you have?
Hope your trip to the West Coast works out. If it does, let me know.
Any progress to report ??? I never got north this summer due to a total lack of summer type weather!! Plenty of sailing but wind 20 / 30kts. most days also cold and wet -not the conditions to tackle the northern approaches for pleasure!! I use the original cutter rig it is flexible in heavy winds, in fact it is probably at it's best in a heavy wind area. The wingsail mod. came later, if I was building now I would probably use it. Biggest mod. for me was using 3 full x-beams instead of 4 plus half-beam under the mast. This gives a good single cockpit with platform forward and only one cabin per hull is better [this boat is too small to divide into 4 cabins]. This well tested now but not an "approved" mod. I have other ideas etc. you can use or not...best of luck whatever you do.
