The tender

I know it's not a Wharram but it makes a great tender for one, Gloucester Dory, three sheets of ply and about 40hrs work.

It's an updated version of the Jim Bolger design the "Gloucester Light Dory" which is available in book form with the building and lofting plans in the first couple of pages. But I cut hours off of the construction time by using the "cable tie" stitch and glue method and a very baisic "Jig". Both that and the 6mm (1/4") Ply made it an altogether lighter vessel, it is car toppable and easy enough to carry to and from the waters edge.
But it is for rowing only and rows beautifully at that, it's not designed for sail or carrying an outboard however the raked "tombstone" transom handles a rough and following sea very well. A well tried and tested, time proven design.
If you're interested in throwing one together buy the book and it will give you all the lofting measurements, if I can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to ask.

Comment by Geminidawn on April 14, 2010 at 6:33am: I bought this book http://www.amazon.com/How-Build-Gloucester-Light-Dory/dp/0937822043 it's very basic, step by step and a bit outdated. I read through it and decided to scrap the time consuming solid chines, stem and transom and go for the stitch and glue method. I got all the information I needed in the first two pages which has a small copy of the plans.
