Below photo before launch on Pamlico River, Washington, NC, 1974. Above photo is early 1980's. Wahini Irene performed better without the bulwarks. With bulwarks, it was 50/50 chance 'coming about' or 'wear ship'. Our later Tiki 26, a much later design, was a drier better performing model overall than the 46' ORO was. Never had to jibe and she could point as well as a 'spritsail skiff'. The builder modified the design, reducing the beam by 9" and lowering the sail aspect to suit. Morning Star was/is an awesome performer.
