This is the Plug I built, with my two coworkers...
Its 46' long...coldmolded/faired/glassed..with duracoat primer....that we fine sanded and polished/waxed.
The next step is the mold layup. using balsa/csm for a thick shell.
then pop out the plug....and you have the mold for multiple parts.

Nainoa Thompson asked me to be the foreman boatbuilder for this project....a group sponsered effort with the Polynesian Voyaging Society spear heading it.
It was a complete honor to be part of this project.....
The idea is to build multiple sailing canoes for all different campuses and schools of Hawaii.
to help re-introduce Voyaging, and Hawaiian Culture to students of Hawaii.
Not only traditional lessons being taught.....but marine biology, ecology, celestial navigation, modern navigation, among others.
a great program!
and many mahalos to Nainoa and the team at PVS....with special thanks to Ka'iulani and Mr. Perkins....all great friends!
