This is a Tangaroa Mk1, on its way to being a fixed beam, widened boat. The hulls are connected with temporary 'beams' as shown.

When the new beam 'roots' are built into the hulls, the hulls will be pulled apart with blocks and tackles by loosening the temporary beam clamps to the Port hull, so allowing this hull to move apart from the Starboard hull by sliding along the scaffold tubes.

The boat is on a pontoon berth in Portsmouth Harbour, UK, where the water is very placid.
