Sorry, something went wrong with the upload process, so I have to add the comment here. This is the future inside of the fridge, powered by Peltier chips.
Hi Hans. How efficient are these peltier systems.regards Chris
Hi Chris. In effect not very efficient. However, in practice there are many positive points. No moving parts except the (silent) fans. Long life. Use little energy 3 A for a 40W chip when running. Important is a very good insulation. I make everything from marine ply, epoxy coated, with food grade flow cote (no solvents). Insulation is PU foam applied into the cavities, between 8 and 10 cm thick. Google Pacific Supercool for details. The technical problem is how to keep the hot and the cold side apart. If you buy a chip, don't test it without fitting it to heat sinks, or it self-destroys in seconds. Also google under peltier cooling. I shall report as soon as it is working and give details about the set-up.
Hi Hans.Have you had any results on the "peltier chip system"? dennis
Hi Dennis, I have built and tested the assembly and it works fine. However, the fridge in not in permanent use yet. I shall report as soon as there is some experience.
