I'm reconsidering my T26 build as I think about the issue of assembly for launch.

I love the T21 design, and wonder if that would be easier to assembly by myself? I don't want to do some fancy telescoping trailer and I'm thinking about dollies...

Or should I go with a Hitia 17 and be certain I can do it all myself?

I am currently in the process of painting my recently purchased secondhand Tiki 21. I have not seen or sailed a Tiki 21 before and am curious about the dolphin striker. I would appreciate if anyone post a photo of how it looks when in place?

After, we decide to do the transatlantique with this cata, at the time it was essentiel to leave with this one particulary, but yesterday i spoke with the boss of the association who tell me that he can not give me the boat ...

The project become less real, but i don't want to give up and i'm gonna leave in july as expected.

I'm searching a tiki 21 or tiki 26, if you heard something, or if you are agree to rent me the cata i search, i will be very happy.

If you have some stories with this kind of boat, some experience we can learn or some advice, it's very usefull and nice !!

Hi everyone! Just doing some planning for more summer fun on my Tiki 21, and want to modify the engine placement or set up. Last summer, I added a little dodger and bimini (the bimini folds out of the way so I can see the sails and clamber out of the hull). It worked so well! I was in the shade when I wanted to be and cosy in the hull, with all lines (not the halyards) led back to the port hull. The only problem I faced in bigger waves was that an odd wave would collide with the vertical surface of the wood that holds the engine, hanging below the deck, sending a few cupfuls of water into the air and onto my lap! Brad on Beto has an 'aft of the rear beam' set up, but I'm wondering if it'll cavitate too much. How about a sled, like Jim Brown did on the wonderful Searunner, Scrimshaw? Anyone have any solutions?

I have just built a ”sliding” trailer for my tiki 21.

It’s inspired by the trailer built by Rich Hueschen of which I found pictures on this forum.

When building something new you always look for pictures to get inspired by, so I thought I would contribute back with pictures of a few of the modifications I made.

The sliding mechanism is just 50mm and 60mm steel tube. The outer tubes are welded together and attached to the trailer. It has been galvanized after welding.

The central platform sits horizontal on the trailer, and is just lifted up when the boat is assembled. It holds fuel tank for the outboard, propane burner and all the cooking gear, so that doesn’t have to be unpacked.

The side-platforms sit parallel to the hull in their cradle on the inside, and the rudders on the outside.

All is easy to access when the hulls are pulled apart and the boat is assembled.

The boat was launched from the trailer first time this weekend, and much to my relief it worked very well :)

If anyone is planning to build a tiki 21 trailer I will be happy to help with some measurements if needed.

Hi,

with its new mast, we tried my cat twice, and, if it sails better than expected, I have a few questions.

I rig the boat with pre streched dyneema. However, everytime after sailing I need to retension shrouds and forestay. I still have some space, but soon no more, and wil have to shorten shrouds and forestay themselves. So, when pre streched dyneema stops to strech?

Second question is about the jib sheet. Where do you cleat them, and how?

Bonjour,

Wednesday 12th we launched my Tiki21, named Bouton d'or, (Buttercup) in Aberdeen, Hong Kong. The next day Bouton d'or was moored in Middle Island. Bouton d'or was built in China, compressed time four months, on a three years time. I'll send later some pictures of navigation. But first I thank you all for your advices, help and support.

I have partially stripped (back to bare wood in some spots) my beams and want to repaint them. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best paint? The marine epoxies are really pricey, but maybe they're worth it? Does it matter if the paint that's left on the beams is oil? I don't actually know if it is or isn't. Many thanks!
