I have mine crossed. Let's hope.

Sad and I hope they're found alive and well. Looking deeper into it I find it's the same owner of the Tiki 46 Sanyasin that was totally destroyed during cyclone Pam in Vanuatu in 2015.

The west coast of the North Island is a challenging place to be cruising. It is a lee shore from the Tasman Sea, and all harbors that could provide safe haven have bars that are dangerous when the weather is bad.

What's the temperature of the air and the water like this time of year?

Not sure Gemini, I would have to look it up. But it is Summer of course.

The water temp off Kawhia at this time of year would be somewhere between 17 & 20 deg Celsius. The west coast of NZ is not a place to take lightly, it can be a very dangerous place to be on any boat. If you ended up in the water in a survival situation, exposure would take you out fairly quickly at any time of the year.

The plot thickens on this story though...

That's warm ?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Here is where I got the info from:

Kawhia is in the yellow/orange band.

We have solar water heating here, when the temp reading on the monitor falls below 25, it's pretty much a cold shower. Also a lifetime of swimming at the various beaches in NZ tells me with out a wet suit you'd probably be dead by the morning.

After saying that though, I am hoping that where ever they are they are safe and warm!

Good news, looks like they have been found safe and sound.

Another great testimony to the Wharram design too.

Good news!

What a great testament to the design! Bone stock Tiki 21 from the looks of it
