Wharram Builders and Friends

A Photo & Discussion Forum for Wharram Design Enthusiasts

Hi all,
I have recently sailed from Sumatra to Broome in Western Australia after buying a Wharram Tiki 38. I sailed with my 14 year old son and two friends. We had an amazing adventure and I have posted several blog entries on my page- they are in chronological order starting with 'The Jigal Diaries'.
I hope you enjoy them!

Hi Dave, Really enjoyed your diaries of the sail from Sumatra to Broome. What are your cruising plans from Broome ?
Is your Wharram the vessel that chartered out of Kavieng in New Guinea ?
Do you have photos of your travels?
I have sailed from Sumatra to Broome , tho missed out on Java , on a range of vessels from local Indo boats to a Pelni shipping company ferry to the square rigger Leeuwin back to WA.Great trip , tho not as adventurous as yours.
Cheers ,
Hugh
Thanks Hugh- In answer to your question, yes- Jigal was formerly Imajica and ran charters out of PNG. She was owned by Jesse Martin at that time- the 18 year old solo sailor.

We plan to rent out the house for six months next year and cruise the Kimberley and back up into Indonesia, this time with the family. I can't wait. I am also going to squeeze in a week at the Rowley Shoals before laying up for the cyclone season. I am slave to the boat now though with loads of maintenance and repairs....

I'll get some photos up soon.

Cheers
Dave
Hi Dave,
I really enjoyed reading your blog posts. Sounds like you guys had quite an adventure.
Is Jesse Martin building a bigger boat? I read somewhere he was building a Tiki 46??

Anyway, have fun and keep us informed (with pictures too!) on your travels.

All the best,

Bob
