<p>The only way I can see lashings break is if they are old and damaged by UV light, the wrong diameter, the wrong type of rope, or insufficient turns around the beam and lashing block. If you stick to the plans and have a good maintenance schedule you will be fine. </p>

<p>I pondered this same question but went with Polyester in the end for these reasons.</p>
<p>1. That is what it says in the plan and it is tried and tested.</p>
<p>2. Polyester has a small amount of stretch which i believe helps with the flex of the whole structure. Dyneema has very little if any stretch. I used dyneema for the frappings though.</p>
<p>3. Polyester is a lot less expensive than dyneema, and once again is all that is necessary. </p>
