A good friend has tried Dynell fabric for a deck covering.  I helped him apply some of it and we used epoxy and Dynell the same way you would use epoxy and fiberglass - sand the surface, wet out the fabric, etc - and the result is good anti skid surface that looks handsome and is strong and protective.  The fabric comes in rolls and it is light weight and looks great painted.  My friend put his on and when the epoxy was partly hardened, he cut back the fabric so it has clean cut edges ending one inch away from deck hardware and toe rails etc. Looks good to me and is pleasant but secure on bare feet or deck shoes.  Ann and NEv

It is as you say. The Dynell or Xynole polyester fabric also has better peel strength and is more resistant to abrasion and impact than glass fabric. It also will drape much better than glass fabric and as a special plus is not itchy when sanded. It is for sheathing only, it is not designed as a structural fabric. We use it for all of our exterior sheathing. One thought is that every time you paint the deck your nonskid properties will diminish. When you first apply it it has the same look and feel as a traditional canvas covered deck. Very nice. David
